More About Pappelina
Originating in 1940's Sweden, the traditional technique of weaving plastic rugs was almost consigned to the history books when it was rediscovered and brought back to life in the 1990's by Pappelina. Revived with new materials and beautiful contemporary designs, the rugs have now found a place in many modern Scandinavian homes and as an appreciation of their benefits and appeal spreads further afield, Pappelina have acquired a growing global following.
Pappelina take great pride both in the high quality of their simple, functional designs and the environmentally responsible credentials of their product, from selection of materials and manufacturing process right through to sustainable distribution of the finished article.
The idea of plastic rugs may not be instantly appealing to the unenlightened, but once introduced to the concept many customers become dedicated fans. Made to last and requiring a minimum of maintenance - two more eco-friendly factors - Pappelina rugs are both water and UV resitant and can be mopped, hand or machine-washed up to 30°c. Ideal for kitchens and bathrooms, hallways and playrooms, they make perfect doormats and are a practical choice for anyone with children or pets.
With a wide variety of patterns ranging from bold graphic prints to soft, organic shapes and a regularly updated addition of new designs and colours, there really is something to suit almost every home whether your style is traditional, contemporary or, like many Scandinavian homes, a combination of the two.
